According to a survey conducted by the risk consulting firm Kroll, employment screening criminal record convictions continue to increase.  In 2005, 8.5% of screenings found convictions, 9.1% were discovered in 2006, and 9.5% in 2007.

The construction industry had the highest conviction screening hits (15.4%), followed by automotive (13.9%), and retail (13.7%).  Education had the lowest hits (3.7%).  Additionally, 22.6% of records checked revealed discrepancies in educational history claimed by applicants and inconsistencies in employment history were found in 48.1% of cases.    More survey information is available at www.kroll.com.
